for everyone
Launched in 1941, the USS Drum was named after the type of a fish which is known for making drumming sounds. This American submarine was the first to enter the World War II. It played an important role in the military operations because it was awarded with 12 battle stars, and according to the official records, it was responsible for 15 sunken enemy ships. Currently, Drum is a submarine museum opened to wide public.
At the moment, the submarine is ashore, but initially it was moored in the waters of Alabama. During the excursion at Drum, our guide informed us that this historical landmark underwent significant damage during the Hurricane Georges in 1988.   Then, the USS Alabama Battleship Commission decided to replace it on shore so that to prevent following destructions. However, even being onshore, Drum sustained damage from Hurricane Katrina in 2005. When I ordered a custom paper at custom writing companies on the most significant historical sites of Alabama, I came across information on Drum Museum several times. Then, I decided to visit this site and see the submarine which was involved into the military operations of the World War II with my own eyes.  The excursion at Drum appeared to be a memorable event which not only impressed me greatly, but even allowed me to fill some gaps in my knowledge on history of the World War II and the US role in it.
